Maple Distillations

There are a lot of drinks that feature maple syrup these days. "The Vermonter" is a common drink on bar menus, usually featuring some variation on a martini with maple syrup added. 

A newer twist is to use maple syrup in the production of the alcohol itself. Tree Spirits of Oakland Maine has had a lot of luck making fun and excellent maple products. Yes, they use Maine maple syrup rather than Vermont maple syrup, but it's all Northern New England, right?

Recently we checked out their tasting room and after a sip (or two), we left with a lovely bottle of their Knotted Maple "brandy", their Maple Storm dessert wine, and their maple vanilla for baking. If you're in the area sometime you should check them out, or place an order online!
